Meet the Author

Grace Thornton

“Faith isn’t complicated—we make it complicated.”

My Story

I never planned to be a writer. For over twenty years, I was just a children’s ministry director who loved watching kids’ eyes light up when Scripture suddenly made sense to them.

It started small—handouts for Sunday school, discussion guides for my women’s Bible study group, bedtime devotionals I wrote for my own four children. Nothing fancy. Just me trying to make God’s Word feel less like a textbook and more like a conversation.

Then friends started asking for copies. Then their friends. Then strangers at church conferences.

That’s when I realized: maybe these simple words were exactly what people needed.

What I Believe

I believe Scripture is living and breathing—not something to be studied from a distance, but something to be lived in.

I believe God meets us in the mess. In the carpool line. In the 3 AM worry. In the ordinary Tuesday that feels anything but holy.

I believe faith grows best in community—around kitchen tables, not just church pews.

And I believe the Bible wasn’t meant to sit on a shelf. It was meant to be worn, dog-eared, underlined, cried over, and returned to again and again.

“These aren’t just stories. They’re invitations—to know God more deeply, to see yourself more clearly, and to walk more closely with the One who loves you.”

A Little More About Me

When I’m not writing, you’ll find me:

  • Spoiling my seven grandchildren (and sending them home full of sugar)
  • Tending my garden—badly, but joyfully
  • Drinking too much coffee on my back porch
  • Leading a small group Bible study that’s been meeting for 15 years
  • Reminding my husband that retirement doesn’t mean we stop having adventures

I live in Tennessee with my husband of 38 years, where the sweet tea is strong and the front porch conversations are longer.

How I Write

For Children

Wonder and imagination first. I want kids to fall in love with these stories before they “understand” them. The theology comes naturally when the story captures their heart.

For Adults

Honest and accessible. No seminary degree required. I write like I’m sitting across from you at my kitchen table—because that’s where the best conversations happen.

What Are “Kingdom Moments”?

You’ll see this phrase throughout my writing. Kingdom Moments are those unexpected flashes when the eternal breaks into the everyday.

When your toddler asks where God lives and you suddenly see the universe through fresh eyes.

When a verse you’ve read a hundred times suddenly speaks directly to your situation.

When grief cracks you open and grace rushes in.

My prayer is that these books help you recognize the Kingdom Moments already happening in your life—and create space for more.
